Hindenburg Interior Airship

The airship flew from march 1936 until she was destroyed by fire 14 months later on may 6 1937 while attempting to land at lakehu.

The basic design of lz 129 hindenburg was conventional and based on time tested technology used by chief designer ludwig dürr and the zeppelin company for decades. She was designed and built by the zeppelin company on the shores of lake constance in friedrichshafen germany and was operated by the german zeppelin airline company. The passenger areas inside the hindenburg were spread over two decks one directly above the other. These color images reveal the interior of not just any old 1930s airship but the hindenburg itself looking as genteel and well appointed as you might expect with accommodations up to and including somewhere below its hydrogen filled balloon a smoking room.

Passenger decks before 1936 1937 refit. There were 35 fatalities 13 passengers and 22 crewmen from the 97 people on board 36 passengers and 61 crewmen and an additional fatality on the ground. The german passenger airship lz 129 hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at naval air station lakehurst.

36 people died in the disaster. The control car was divided into three sections. Hindenburg was navigated and conned from the ship s control car fuhrergondel which was located toward the bow of the airship at ring 203.
