The airship flew from march 1936 until she was destroyed by fire 14 months later on may 6 1937 while attempting to land at lakehu.

The basic design of lz 129 hindenburg was conventional and based on time tested technology used by chief designer ludwig dürr and the zeppelin company for decades. The passenger areas inside the hindenburg were spread over two decks one directly above the other. These color images reveal the interior of not just any old 1930s airship but the hindenburg itself looking as genteel and well appointed as you might expect with accommodations up to and including somewhere below its hydrogen filled balloon a smoking room.

36 people died in the disaster. The control car was divided into three sections. Hindenburg was navigated and conned from the ship s control car fuhrergondel which was located toward the bow of the airship at ring 203.
